2. English Corner

 

 

Two days a week, for all three recesses, our students are welcomed to the English Room to play games in the English Corner. Our NET, Mr Grant, and our English Ambassadors invite them in and help them learn to play fun English games.

 

These board-games and card-games are well known throughout the English-speaking world. They include Dominoes, Top Trumps, Snakes & Ladders, Uno, Jenga and Scrabble.

 

These games have been chosen because, as well as being fun, they promote the natural use of English for both speaking and listening. For example, Dominoes encourages our students to use numbers and linkers with each other, and Top Trumps facilitates saying and listening to descriptive adjectives.

 

Thus, the English Corner is a very popular activity, and the English Room is often filled with students during recess. As they involve themselves in the games, they use English authentically and fluently, learning in the most rewarding and natural way.
